Makinde Plans to Hire 7,000 Teachers in Oyo

Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in Oyo has announced plans to recruit 7,000 teachers for public primary schools.

This information was shared by the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, during a press briefing in Ibadan on Friday. The state government also plans to hire 100 caregivers for the special needs sub-sector in the state.

During the briefing, Dr. Adeniran mentioned that the efforts to recruit the teachers are part of fulfilling Governor Seyi Makinde’s electoral promise. “In fulfillment of his electoral promise and the needs of the people of Oyo State, due to the shortage of teachers in our public primary schools, Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the recruitment of 7,000 teachers for our public primary schools. Additionally, he has approved the recruitment of 100 caregivers for our special schools,” he said.

Dr. Adeniran emphasized the importance of making the recruitment process public to prevent misinformation and scams. He warned prospective applicants to be cautious of fraudsters and clarified that no agents had been appointed by the Board for the recruitment process. The Board has just begun preliminary work on the recruitment.

“The procedures to ensure a free, fair, and credible exercise will be issued by this Board and signed by me,” Dr. Adeniran stated.

He encouraged applicants to directly contact the Board for inquiries and avoid relying on third-party information. “No staff member is authorized to collect money from applicants. We appreciate the governor for keeping his promise and pray for divine wisdom for him in managing the state’s affairs,” he said, noting that the Board would announce the application dates in due course. He also added that the Board is collaborating with other relevant agencies to ensure a seamless recruitment process, strictly adhering to the Governor’s directive for a merit-based exercise.
