A two-term member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Musiliudeen Akinremi, widely known as Jagaban, has passed away.
Details surrounding his death were not fully clear at the time of this report, but the lawmaker reportedly passed away on Wednesday at the age of 51.
Akin Adewale, a close associate of the deceased, expressed sorrow, stating, “We have lost Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi, who represented Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the NASS. This news is deeply saddening. Oh God.”
Confirming his death, House of Representatives spokesman Akin Rotimi quoted Speaker Tajudeen Abbas as expressing profound sadness. Rotimi noted that Akinremi had served as Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions.

In his statement, Rotimi said, “Until his passing, the Oyo legislator was a dedicated public servant known for his steadfast commitment to the development of his constituency and the nation at large. His dedication to service, combined with his deep understanding of his people’s needs and aspirations, earned him the affectionate title of ‘Jagaban.'”
“Throughout his tenure, he advocated strongly for policies and initiatives promoting social welfare, economic growth, and scientific research. His active participation in legislative debates and committee activities demonstrated his dedication and diligence.”
“Akinremi was equally a grassroots politician and a skilled statesman who used his influence and network to bring positive change to his constituency. He fostered unity and camaraderie within the House by reaching out and sending goodwill messages to colleagues on special occasions.”
“As a senior member, Rep. Akinremi had a sharp institutional memory and mentored many first-time parliamentarians, offering wisdom gained from his extensive legislative experience.”
“Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, expressed deep sadness over the loss, describing Akinremi’s passing as a significant loss to the House.”
Rotimi further quoted the Speaker as saying, “Rep. Akinremi Olaide Adewale was a symbol of dedication and service. His contributions to our legislative work, particularly in the realm of science and research, were invaluable. His death is a profound loss to the House, his constituency, and the nation. We will miss his leadership, wisdom, and the passionate commitment he brought to his responsibilities.”
