Chevening Scholarship 2020 Requirements
The Chevening scholarship just like any other scholarship is not without requirements. In this article, we are poised to bring you up to speed because ineligible applications will be rejected, thus it is important that you check that you meet Chevening eligibility criteria before you start applying.
Here are the Chevening scholarship 2020 requirements;
- Candidate must have at least two years of work experience.
- Must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
- Meet the Chevening English language requirement by July 16 2020
- Go back to your country of citizenship for at least of two years after your award has ended.
Must complete all components of an undergraduate degree, which will enable you gain entry into a postgraduate programme at a UK University as at the time you submit your application. This is normally equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
Should apply to three different eligible UK University courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by July 16 2020.
You will be disqualified for a Chevening Scholarship if you fall in the following category;
If you are an employee, a former employee, or relative of an employee (since July 2017) of Her Majesty’s Government (including British embassies/high commissions; the Department for International Development; the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy; Department for International trade; the Ministry of Defence; and the Home Office) you are not eligible. Also staff member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities are not eligible.
If you have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government funded scholarship.
Those who hold British or dual British citizenship (unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and happen to be applying from Hong Kong).
If you hold a refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country. Note that applicants who are citizens of a Chevening-eligible country and who hold refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country stand eligible for a scholarship.
Employees, former employees, or relatives of an employee (since July 2017) of Chevening Partner organisations can apply, but note that they cannot get a Chevening Partner Award from the organization from which they work, previously worked, or are affiliated with via relatives.
Tips You Should Know – Chevening scholarship 2020 requirements
Relatives here refer to parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or step-children, spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner (where the couple have been in relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for a minimum of two years.
After your applications are all filled out and submitted, they undergo an electronic sift against Chevening eligibility criteria. Any application that does not meet up with the eligibility criteria will be removed from the selection process.
Thus you have to check the list where common errors are listed to avoid making these errors in your application form.
If these errors are spotted in your application form, your application will be ineligible, and note that once your application has been submitted, you can’t change it retrospectively.
