It’s going to be a tiny thumbnail in most situations, so you want to crop it correctly.

- Minimum size: 168px by 168px
- Minimum recommended size: 761px by 761px

Facebook Cover Photo Size (Profile)
The timeline cover photo measures 851px by 315px. This is the minimum size at which Facebook will display the picture.
The cover photo comes in at 2.7:1 for those of you who prefer aspect ratios.
