The father of popular Nigerian skit maker Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, known as Sabinus, was kidnapped in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The incident, which unfolded on the evening of July 9, 2024, has left the community and fans deeply shaken.

The abduction occurred as Mr. Ejekwu was returning to his residence in Port Harcourt after a journey outside the state. As he attempted to enter his home between 7:30 and 8:00 PM, armed individuals intercepted and forcibly took him, leading to a violent confrontation with local security forces.
During the heist, a member of the local security outfit Ospac was tragically killed, and another was injured in the ensuing gunfight. Additionally, a neighbor of Mr. Ejekwu was struck by a stray bullet and is currently hospitalized in intensive care.
The situation reached a resolution when Sabinus complied with the kidnappers’ ransom demands, securing his father’s release. Following the ordeal, Sabinus expressed his relief and gratitude through a cryptic message on social media, thanking God for his father’s safe return.
Sabinus has often spoken of his father’s significant influence on his life and career. In past interviews, he has described his father as his greatest role model and the inspiration behind his pursuit of comedy. This incident has undoubtedly been a harrowing experience for the family and their supporters.
