President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Ayodeji Ariyo Gbeleyi as the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE). This announcement was made by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement on Saturday.
Gbeleyi is a distinguished financial expert and an award-winning chartered accountant. He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). He is also an alumnus of executive programs at the prestigious London Business School, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and Lagos Business School.

Gbeleyi has over 30 years of post-qualification experience in various sectors, including manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), investment and commercial banking, project finance, telecommunications, infrastructure, and public administration.
Previously, he served as the board Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and as Commissioner of Finance in Lagos State from 2013 to 2015.
“The President expects the new Director-General to leverage his extensive experience and skills in this role to strengthen the agency as the national resource center for capacity building and reform support. This includes promoting a competitive, private sector-driven economy, ensuring social accountability, efficiently deploying public resources, and advancing effective corporate governance and fiduciary discipline in both the public and private sectors,” the statement said.

Previously, President Tinubu directed Mamman Ahmadu to resign from his position as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
This directive is part of a larger effort to reorganize the public procurement system to enhance the agency’s efficiency and transparency.
The Director-General was instructed to hand over his duties to the most senior officer in the Bureau until a new Director-General is appointed.
